Kimmo's English may not be 100% but his enthusiasm for the Internet

certainly is! He's a student at the continuing education center which is

providing us with interns for our sites. We knew we needed a way to reach

out to Spanish-speaking users so we recruited six people from Barrio Logan

who had a little computer experience, but were interested in learning more

about the Internet. They've spent the past two weeks practicing mail and

web browsing, learning how to install software and how to troubleshoot

problems. Next week they'll go to work as guides for community members.

(I'll miss the flurry of practice email that I've received everyday during

their class time!)

And then I got this message from the Indian Human Resource Center:

>Hey!! we love our little computors Please don't take them away we will try

>to use it more often >I'm using as often as I can anyway

>you all

>take care Hear??

>Enjoy the rest of the week

>your friend in the world of computers

>Ahoh!! Randy

And this one from the Union of Pan-Asian Communities:

>My use of email and Internet access benefits the community in several ways.

>Specifically, access to electronic communication benefits my work in

>1)tobacco control, 2) cancer education, and 3) in health and general

>advocacy in the Asian and Pacific Islander (API)communities. As an Area

>Coordinator for the Asian & Pacific Islander Tobacco Education Network, a

>statewide network advocating for smoke-free API communities, I collaborate

>with and coordinate efforts with my consortium partners as well as other

>advocates statewide.
