Broadband | Open Source | Policy and regulation | Wi-Fi
Connected with the concept of Open Source are Open Standards, Open Platforms and Open Architecture.
Mark Cooper, researcher at the Consumer Federation of America edited Open Architecture as Communications Policy (2004), available for distribution (Warning... the pdf is more than 450 pages!) under Creative Commons license. This work compiles important documents related to the history of the Internet from a policy perspective, and Mark Cooper's chapters draw out connections in the historical development of the common law relevant to non-discriminatory common carriage principles. Mark Cooper gave the closing plenary address at the Wireless Community Networking Summit at UIUC in August. His sermon is available via RealMedia video, and will definitely inspire the choir.
